Research Grants

Funding the research others overlook

We support promising research into rare autoimmune conditions—work that struggles to attract mainstream funding but could transform patients' lives.

Our focus areas

We prioritise research that addresses unmet needs in autoimmune disease treatment and understanding. Our current areas of interest include:

Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

Understanding disease mechanisms and developing new therapeutic approaches.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Particularly rare variants and treatment-resistant forms of Crohn's and colitis.

Autoimmune Liver Diseases

Research into causes, progression, and potential treatments.

Related Conditions

Overlapping autoimmune conditions and their connections.

Eligibility

We welcome applications from research institutions, universities, and established research groups. To be considered for funding, proposals should:

  • Address an unmet need

Focus on conditions or questions that lack adequate research funding elsewhere.

  • Show translational potential

We favour research with a clear path toward improving patient outcomes.

  • Demonstrate scientific rigour

Strong methodology, appropriate controls, and realistic timelines.

  • Include experienced researchers

Teams should have relevant expertise and a track record of quality work.

What we value

"We're not looking for the safest bet. We're looking for the work that could genuinely make a difference—even if success isn't guaranteed."

We understand that scientific research involves uncertainty. Not every project will succeed. That's acceptable—what matters is that the question is worth asking and the approach is sound.

We also value collaboration. If your institution is working with others on a multi-site study, or if you're building on previous work in the field, we want to hear about it. Science advances faster when researchers share knowledge.

How to apply

We're currently developing our formal grant application process. In the meantime, we welcome informal enquiries from researchers and institutions interested in discussing potential projects.

Please reach out to introduce yourself and your research interests. We're happy to have preliminary conversations about whether your work might be a good fit for foundation support.
